Wow!!! Our first post on our brand new web site. First I want to say 'thank you' to everyone who is joining us here at avgmikeonabike. There will be more posts on why we're doing this (blogging and posting) and what our expectations are, but for right now enjoy our first posted adventure to Lake Tobias. This morning we woke up to a text from Natasha suggesting we go to Lake Tobias to see the new giraffes. Of course! Let's do it! Why not? But how do we fit everyone on a motorcycle? Ummmm... yeah, that wouldn't have worked. Julie and I rode on our bikes and the Ratcliffes took their bus. The ride for Julie and I was great. We talked on our Sena headsets the whole way there.
One thing that you'll find out is that we do try to have all of our safety gear on when we ride. From bottom to top: boots, long pants or riding pants, jacket with protective pads and of course... a helmet. I'll tell you more about all of our avg-gear a little later on other posts. I'm telling you about our gear because it was 80+ degrees F today. We didn't want to walk around the park in all that gear so we were wearing a summer-time outfit under everything. The ride over was fantastic. Although it's only 10 miles from our home, it is always good to get on our bikes and hit the road.
Julie is riding a Triumph Tiger 800 and I am riding a Triumph Tiger 1200. Again... we'll blog and post about our rides a bit later. The time in the park was FANTASTIC. Lake Tobias is an inexpensive family get-away. I am so lucky (told you I was lucky) to have something like this close by. We saw monkeys, alligators, emus, ostriches, deer, bison, and so much more. The best part was spending this time with people I love.
